  • The 4th International Flamenco Guitar Festival of Jerez focuses on the role of women

    The City Council and La Guarida del Ángel present a program that also pays tribute to Paco de Lucía, marking the tenth anniversary of his passing

    This event continues to promote the tradition of flamenco guitar, this year through five guitar recitals, three of which will feature women guitarists and two dedicated to paying tribute to the maestro Paco de Lucía, marking the tenth anniversary of his passing. There will also be a lecture by Marcelo Gálvez, a professor at the Conservatory of Music, and a photographic exhibition by Paco Barroso on the guitar of Jerez.


    Alba Espert Ruiz, from Jerez de la Frontera, is a young flamenco guitar prodigy who, despite her youth, has already earned several awards and shared the stage with some of the greatest names in flamenco. She began playing at just eight years old and trained in various academies under renowned artists such as José Luis Balao, Manuel Lozano “El Carbonero,” and Rosario Montoya, “La Reina Gitana.” She has been honored with the Andalucía Joven Award in the Art and Culture category.

    “ALMA DE SONATA” is a recital where the flamenco guitar takes center stage over other disciplines such as singing and/or dancing. It aims to pay tribute to the great masters of this art whose creations have enriched our culture: Manolo Sanlúcar, Paco de Lucía, Sabicas, Niño Ricardo, and José Luis Balao.
