Biography
Alba Espert Ruiz was born in Jerez de la Frontera on June 21, 1997.
She received her first guitar as a Christmas gift in 2005.
She began playing flamenco guitar at the age of 8 at Manuel Lozano "El Carbonero"'s school. She continued her musical studies at the Municipal School of Music in Jerez for 5 years, where she combined Flamenco Guitar with Music Theory lessons. There, she received classes from Rosario Lazo Montoya "La Reina Gitana".
Later, she continued her musical education - blending the study of classical pieces with flamenco guitar and accompaniment for singing and dancing - at the academies of Jerez maestros José Luis Balao, José Ignacio Franco, and Manuel Lozano "El Carbonero".
She has participated in Master Classes with renowned masters such as Rafael Riqueni and Diego del Morao, as well as various specialization courses at the International Guitar Festival of Córdoba with guitarists Manolo Sanlúcar and Daniel Navarro "Niño de Pura".
She completed her Higher Degree in Artistic Education, specializing in Flamenco Guitar, at the "Rafael Orozco" Superior Conservatory of Music in Córdoba, receiving lessons from great masters like Manolo Franco and Daniel Navarro "Niño de Pura".
She has completed the Interuniversity Master's in Flamenco Research and Analysis at the Universities of Cádiz (UCA) and Córdoba (UCO).
She actively participates in promoting flamenco art with her guitar playing, performing at various venues such as the XXII Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla 2022, the I Bienal de Cante de Jerez, the Instituto Cervantes in Palermo (Italy), the III International Guitar Festival of Jerez, various Flamenco Festivals, several shows as part of the "Flamenco Viene del Sur" program, the AlEnRuta - Flamencos cycle, as well as recitals offered in several countries such as Italy, Austria, and Germany, among others.
Alba has participated as artistic director, co-writer, and with her guitar playing in the documentary series "Flamenco Woman. Women of Flamenco".
She is an Honorary Member and Official Guitarist of the Tertulia Flamenca "Amigos de Paco Peña" (Córdoba), where she teaches Flamenco Guitar in their Flamenco Classroom.
She has participated in various Flamenco Competitions, such as the International Festival of Cante de las Minas in La Unión or the National Competition of Córdoba; accompanying singers, dancers, and instrumentalists, as well as in the Guitar Soloist category.
Winner of the XVI Young Flamencos Contest - 2018, in the Concert Guitar category, "Vicente Amigo" award.
Winner of the Acciona Scholarship of the Flamenco Guitar Accompaniment Talent Competition 2020, organized by the prestigious Cristina Heeren Foundation with the collaboration of Acciona, and Practicum Scholarship 2021 from the same institution. These scholarships allowed her to complement her studies during the 2020/21 and 2021/22 academic years at the Flamenco School of the Cristina Heeren Foundation (Seville) with teachers such as Pedro Sierra and Paco Cortés.
Winner of the Andalucía Joven 2022 Award in the Art and Culture discipline, granted by the Andalusian Regional Government.
The "José Manuel Canelo" distinction from the Paymogo City Council (Huelva) in the 2021 edition went to Alba Espert for her dedication to the study of flamenco.
Winner of the Special Audience Award at the Miguel Borrull International Competition in Barcelona.
Honorable Mention at the I Xatafi International Festival of Guitar Accompaniment for Singing in Getafe (Madrid).
Finalist at the XXIII National Flamenco Art Competition in Córdoba.
