  • Naike Ponce leads an exceptional all-female cast to honor the Maestro Paco de Lucía.

It has been 10 years since Maestro Paco de Lucía left us, and his impact on music is more present than ever.

We interview Naike Ponce, who shares insights about the project.

His legacy will shape a year of tributes to the guitar genius, beginning in New York with Paco de Lucía Legacy, from February 20 to 24, and continuing in Spain, specifically in Madrid on February 25 at Sala Villanos, with the show Women Celebrate Paco de Lucía, directed by Naike Ponce.

“Women Celebrate Paco de Lucía” features some of the most representative artists of contemporary flamenco, including Montse Cortés on vocals, Belén López in dance, Antonia Jiménez, Mercedes Luján, and Alba Espert on guitars, Mélodie Gimard on piano, Nasrine Rahmani on percussion, Gal Maestro on double bass, Lara Wong on flute, and a vibrant choir with Martha Ramos, Natalia Dumas, and Aury Salazar. Additionally, a surprise guest performance has been announced.

Led by the artist from Cádiz, Naike Ponce, director and performer of this show, “Women Celebrate Paco de Lucía” reveals another side of the maestro and his genuine connection with the women in his life, starting with his mother, whose name, Lucía, he carried in his own. The performance journeys through his works, including “Volar”, “Cositas Buenas”, “Entre dos aguas”, among others, and promises a very special surprise.

“Women Celebrate Paco de Lucía” is a performance that allows us to revisit the genius of Paco de Lucía’s work, with the indispensable support of the Paco de Lucía Foundation and his family, who stand behind Naike Ponce in this production.

A show that, on February 25 at Sala Villanos in Madrid, will leave no one indifferent.
