The brilliant Jerez-born guitarist, who is currently studying at the Córdoba Music Conservatory ‘Rafael Orozco’
The Deputy Mayor for Urbanism, Cultural Promotion, Heritage and Security, Francisco Camas, has received the Jerez-born guitarist Alba Espert Ruiz, recently winner of the XVI Young Flamenco Contest 2018, in the Concert Guitar category . The head of the Flamenco Unit, Luis Pérez, was also present at the meeting.
The deputy mayor congratulated the brilliant Jerez-born guitarist, who is currently studying at the "Rafael Orozco" Conservatory of Music in Córdoba. "For Jerez it has to be a source of pride to have a guitarist of this level who, after 16 editions, has managed to win the first 'Vicente Amigo' award to a woman."
“If the figure of the flamenco guitarist has always been a bit in the shadows, despite the great guitarists our city has counted on and has, in the case of being a woman it is doubly important what Alba is achieving, visualizing the important role that women are acquiring in the world of flamenco at all levels”, stated Francisco Camas.
The deputy mayor added that “in these days that we have honored one of the great figures of flamenco guitar, José Luis Balao, we are very happy to be able to receive one of his students who is called to achieve great success in the world of flamenco”.
Alba Espert was born in 1997 and at the age of eight she began to play flamenco guitar at Manuel Lozano's "El Carbonero" academy. At the Municipal School of Music she received classes from Rosario ‘La Reina Gitana’ and later she completed her studies with José Ignacio Franco and José Luis Balao. She has participated in various specialization courses, before going to the Córdoba Conservatory.
