Three Wines, One Soul: Poetic Celebration of Wine

  • The 'White Night' on July 9th will kick off the summer program.

    On July 9th, Puerto Real will once again dress in white to celebrate a night of culture and leisure on the streets. There are many proposals that will be put in place for a new edition of the 'White Night', which marks the beginning of the summer program organized by the City Council. The goal, in addition to enjoying culture, is to stimulate local hospitality and commerce.

    "We understand that cultural and leisure proposals are now more necessary than ever, which is why we have established them in different locations throughout Puerto Real and at different times, so that everyone can find their place," said the councilor of Culture, Alfredo Fernández, during the presentation of the event in which he thanked all the people who have collaborated to shape the program.

    On that day, July 9th, the activities will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the Pret A Porter exhibition by Caco Nelson, which will be set up on Cruz Verde Street. In that same location, at 9:30 p.m., there will be a concert by David Alba Dúo, featuring contemporary music for clarinet and piano. "This is an important place to which we want to give greater prominence because it has also been requested by the local businesses in the area," said Alfredo Fernández.

    At the beginning of the day, the Center for Interpretation of Culture and the San José Cultural Center will open especially for the occasion, offering the exhibition 'Cádiz, una provincia de colores'.

    In the same location, there will be an original proposal called 'Three Wines, One Soul'. It is a "poetic celebration of wine" to be performed by Alba Espert, Charo Troncoso, and Alejandro Majuelo. This is the only proposal that has limited spaces and requires a reservation via email at cultura@puertoreal.es


    From eight o'clock in the evening, there will be an art exhibition in Plaza Almudena Grandes, thanks to the collaboration of the artist collective 'La Máquina Creativa'. At half past eight, the Plaza de los Descalzos will be the stage for the performance of 'Las Aventuras de Sancho Panza', a puppet theater play by Pequeños Duendes.

    San Telmo will also be one of the main squares, with a proposal focused on the fado music of Juan Santamaría, under the name 'Music Without Borders'. To complete the 2022 White Night, there will be a carnival theme. At ten o'clock at night, the quartet 'Los ultraortodoxos de los callejones Cardoso' will tour the street with their songs, while the comparsa group 'Los Renacidos' will perform at 11:30 p.m. in Plaza Alberti.

    In addition to the street activities, the White Night can also be experienced on social media, where the Literary Athenaeum of Puerto Real will kick off the Micro-stories Contest in collaboration with the Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs. Pilar Rosendo, the president of ACE Puerto Real, made a special invitation "to the residents of other municipalities in the province to visit the town and take advantage of this event, and also get to know its commerce, which will have a special schedule on Saturday, July 9th," she said.

    The Tourism and Commerce Councilor, Manuel Izco, was also present at the program presentation and considered that this will be "the summer of change, in which we will return to what we were before the pandemic, and we hope that this will be reflected in the local commerce and hospitality, which is one of the objectives of this proposal."
