Solidarity Gala ‘Young Flamencos’ of the Cristina Heeren Foundation in the Cultural Spring of La Rinconada (Seville) (03/28/2021)



  • The event, whose entrance was a kilo of non-perishable food for the local Cáritas, was attended by the students of the flamenco school of the Cristina Heeren Foundation and a representation of the Flamenco Baccalaureate of the IES Carmen Laffón

    Students of the Cristina Heeren Foundation, has contributed to unite flamenco and solidarity in a new edition of Operation Kilo for the benefit of Cáritas. In this way, and by contributing at least a kilo of non-perishable food, the spectators were able to enjoy the 2021 Young Flamenco Solidarity Gala, in which young promises of jondo art have performed at the Teatro Centro Cultural de la Villa.

    A show that has also meant the start of the #PrimaveraCultural de La Rinconada, within its commitment to continue programming quality shows, delving into anti-Covid-19 protection measures and, in parallel, promoting one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic.


    The Culture delegate of the City Council of La Rinconada, Raquel Vega, attended the event and posed, together with Pepa Sánchez, academic director of the Cristina Heeren Foundation, as well as with Juan Carlos Escribano and Ana Ruibérriz, director and coordinator of the Flamenco Project, respectively, from IES Carmen Laffón, along with the food collected.

    Flamenco Gala

    As is customary at this gala, the program has been composed of a repertoire of dances, songs and touches learned and selected by the cloister during the training given by the teachers at the headquarters of the Cristina Heeren Foundation, in the Sevillian neighborhood of Triana . Pedro Sierra, Paco Cortés, Esperanza Fernández, Milagros Mengíbar, Luisa Palicio, Antonio Molina El Choro, Pedro Sánchez, Manuel Romero, Pedro Barragán, Bea Rivero, Armando Mateos and Pura Navarro are the teachers who, together with students, proposed a program that includes pieces por tonás, seguiriyas, serranas, soleares, bulerías por soleá, peteneras, alegrías or tarantos.


    In addition, one more year the Flamenco Baccalaureate of the IES Carmen Laffón has participated in the show, recognized with the 2018 Flamenco Award in the Classroom by the Junta de Andalucía, which is celebrating its sixth edition with the support of the Fundación Cristina Heeren de Arte Flamenco and the City Council of La Rinconada. Specifically, the young promise, Isla Crawford, a student of the cante subject, has participated in the gala accompanied on guitar by Professor Vahan Davtyan.
