"La Saeta Flamenca" represented at the Avanti Theater in Córdoba (31/03/2017)

  • The Cultural Association, Tertulia Flamenca Amigos de Paco Peña, believed that it was necessary to give a new approach to the Saeta exhibitions. They believe that the simple, and no less interesting, Exaltation of the Arrow, was already too used, and that is why they have carried out this work, where cante por saetas, fandangos from Huelva, dance and guitar are mixed, and everything from the prism of purity of Flamenco Art.

    The Work is developed as follows:

    - It begins with a slide show with a musical background for about four minutes.
    - After that, it begins with some passages from the public life of Jesus of Nazareth. From the beginning of him, going through his detention, crucifixion, death and resurrection. All this narrated through cantes por fandangos de Huelva written for this Work.
    In them, a narrator, Jesus, several Apostles, Mary Magdalene and Veronica take part.
    - After this staging, this first act is terminated. At the beginning of the second, it begins with a cante por Bulerías, the saeta of Don Antonio Machado, voice over, and they begin to leave, the extras with their chandeliers and crucifix, and the bailaora, who will do her first dance.
    - At the end of it, the presentation of the event and the dissertation on SAETA FLAMENCA are made. Then it is given beginning of the Saetas cycle. All will be done from a balcony staged.


    The performance of the play took place on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Avanti Theater in the Cordovan capital, where they intervened:

    - Al cante , like Saeteras, Emi Álvarez, Mª José Abad and Mª del Carmen Abad .
    Likewise, under the coordination of Francisco Pulido “El Chiapas” , they will also sing, representing Jesus and other characters in his life, EIGHT cantaoras and cantaores who will perform passages from the public life of Jesus.
    - The dance will be in charge of Pilar Díaz .
    - On the guitars there will be Manolo Baena and the young Jerez-born guitarist Alba Espert .
    - In the dissertation on the Flamenco Saeta and Poetry, the author of the work, Rafael Lora García .
    - There are also three extras who will process at the exit, accompanying the Saeteras and the Guitarists, they will act as accompanists to the dance and the cante, in the moments of performance of each one of them.
